Since she is the one who attacked you, she has used items that are above her level, but only to the limit of your level. When you retaliate through the Revenge list you use items that are limited by her level.
In regard to the second post, every player invests in attack and defense in different amounts and this can modify the outcome of a battle.
We have revised the rules a bit today in the following way: when a player attacks another through their profile, the limit of the items will be the one of the defending player. In your particular case, this means that when attacked by the lower level player, both of you will use items limited at your level, the defending player, so I hope this answers your first question.
I hope this clears up the confusion a bit, but even so, Warzone will soon receive a FAQ in which we will try to answer all the elementary questions about the game.
